The Ships

Lee Faine and his wife Devora arrived in the US on 19 August 1910 on board the ship Oceania.   They moved to Memphis, from the Ukraine, to be with their daughter, Molly Faine Dermon and son, Sam.  Their other children lived in other US cities:

Benjamin was in Eldorado, Arkansas
Morris was in Yazoo City, Mississippi
Philip and Sophia were in Chicago, Illinois

Most of the family, except Philip who moved to Miami, returned to Memphis, where they are buried.  Until his naturalization was completed, Lee was also known by his Hebrew name, El Chunen Ein.  Here is his signature from the Petition For Naturalization, showing both names.

On 10 June 1925, Lee completed his Naturalization.

Lee later became sexton for Baron Hirsch Congregation and was in charge of the cemetery.  His son-in-law, Dave Dermon, had been President of Baron Hirsch in 1914.
