Each link is a gateway to the individual family pages.
Every page has a family history and a family tree. Most also include a photo
gallery of some of the best available family pictures. I am always interested in
corrections and additions, especially photos or documentation. Please enjoy your
visit!!
Solomon Bloom
The Blooms
This is the only known picture of Solomon. It is taken
from the St. Louis Globe Democrat, where it appeared
with his obituary. He was hit by a streetcar in 1913. I
have a copy of the court case, where the family sued
the streetcar company, and lost!
Theses photos are on hard card stock, that
Papa brought from the Ukraine. He worked as a
tinsmith before buying and selling real estate. His
Dermon Building is on the National Register of Historic
Places for its unusual detail work.
Lee became sextant for Baron Hirsch Cemetery,
in Memphis, where he, and many of my ancestors
are buried. Devora helped start the
Jewish Ladies' Aid Society.
Emanual settled in New York as a clothier. After moving
upstate, and from town to town, most of the family
moved to Washington, DC, and continued in the
clothing business.
Charles immigrated to Detroit, and joined the
3rd Michigan Cavalry during the Civil War.
He mustered out in Arkansas, married the
neighbor's daughter, and moved to Memphis.
Unfortunately, I have no old pictures of the
Kahns. Joseph immigrated to Evansville and ran
the livery, before the family moved south
to Memphis. I found he and his wife's tombstones
by accident at Temple Israel Cemetery.
Zaddok was one of the first of my ancestors to arrive in
the United States, coming over in the 1840's. He was a
grocer in Memphis, moved to Arkansas, and disappears
during the Civil War. Did he fight, or did he run off
with someone else?

The Peysers
The Peysers came to Washington, DC, and are still
there. Two cousins, Leroy Peyser Friedlander and
Philip Sylvan Peyser, married the Bloom Twins,
Alice and Helene.
After leaving Cincinnati, Samuel moved to Memphis.
He was staying in a boarding house owned by the Kahns,
and ended up marrying the youngest daugheter, Rhona.
I remember playing with him behind his cigar stand
at the Claridge Hotel.
